Thank you for your interest in this Discipleship Training Program. KairosMan is a twenty-five week course designed to provide a detailed overview of what the bible says about God. Each week has required reading that will take the student from Genesis to the Revelation. Students are assigned homework to emphasize the key point addressed with each lesson. Most of the homework is a simple fill in the blank, but it is designed to get man to open God's Word. This is the main objective of this course. Man must come to God by way of Jesus as the Christ so that God the Holy Spirit can open that man's mind. Students are required to
complete
one hundred pages of homework (two pages front and back
each week). This homework is completed outside of class. In
addition, each student is required to read between 25-30 chapters of
the bible each week. Upon completion of the twenty-five week
course, all fifty pages of homework assignments (one hundred pages front
and back) are collected and verified. Then the homework is returned
with the student's graduation certificate. If you need help creating
a graduation certificate, just let me know. You can send me an email
at kairosmandfw@gmail.com.
Numbers 8:23-26
NASB
My name is Jeff Austin. I am not a Levite (from Numbers 8:25 above), but I retired from prison ministry when I turned fifty. It was God Who called me into prison ministry and it was God Who blessed the ministry during my twelve years volunteering inside prison. Ten of those years were dedicated to the Hutchins State Jail and that is where I grew in the Lord as I developed this program. Deuteronomy 1:6 is where God tells the children of Israel that they have stayed long enough at this mountain. I had stayed long enough at the prison mountain. It is time for me to move on. Of course I had mixed feelings, but over time my spirit is at peace. As a servant, my service is complete in this area. I experienced the same feelings when I stepped down from coaching baseball, soccer and football. Youth baseball became part of who I was as a man after dedicating seventeen years to the sport. But a time came when I had to move on. During that time, I had also coached youth soccer for ten years and four years as an assistant coach in youth football. Although I am retired from prison ministry, it does not mean that I am out of ministry because all ministry is God's ministry. After retirement from prison ministry, I embarked on a very difficult journey that I felt I had to take and that was to write a book. Writing is difficult. I wrote and then reviewed. Rewrote and then reviewed again. This process went on for years. Then came publishing and that was a different world. Instead of joining the thousands of self publishers in the marketplace spending thousands of dollars for printing, I decided to just place the chapters of the book on line for free using pdf files at www.KairosMan.COM. After a couple years, the self publishing world became more user friendly and on 10-10-2020 the electronic version of the book became available. The .ORG site is for the notes and homework and the .COM site is for the book 'God loves you . . . I'm trying.'. I pray that God will use these two resources to teach others what God has taught me about Jesus. I operated the KairosMan as a ministry, but never set it up as a 501C3 organization. Since I was just one man teaching one class in one prison, I did not want to deal with the requirements associated with having a sales tax exempt status. Anyway, I have never received any money from anyone in support of this ministry so there is nothing to report. This ministry has always just been a part of my personal tithing. Here is the history of KairosMan: Prior to 2003, I was just an average guy who went to church and lived the rest of the week as I wanted. I was involved in small groups at church and claimed Jesus as my Savior. Frankly, I did not love God. Jesus was my heaven insurance policy. Click here to see my personal testimony. Then in 2003, I felt the Holy Spirit call me into prison ministry. Yes, I know that phrase (felt the Holy Spirit call me) sounds kind of weird if you are not a Christian. But it is very real. The Holy Spirit is alive and well. Jesus is alive and well. We serve the Living God. Please understand that I did not want to go to prison, but I could not shake that feeling deep inside that I must go. That feeling is the Holy Spirit. The first time I walked behind the doors I realized that it was only by the grace of God that I did not get arrested for so many infractions during so many different times in my twenties and thirties. That is when my walk with God got very real. Again, read the book (God loves you . . . I'm trying.) to see what God started teaching me inside prison. In 2004, I was asked to take over a Christ-based 12 Step Recovery Program called Overcomers inside the Hutchins State Jail. Each week I would prepare a study to correspond to the Overcomers lesson. I always told the inmates that I hoped that they are learning something in class because God was always teaching me more and more about Him as I prepared for each class. You can see my original notes from the class online at kairosman. In 2011, I was asked to teach Overcomers in the Faith-Based Dorm. I moved from teaching the Overcomers program to the general prison population to teaching it exclusively to the inmates accepted into the Faith-Based Dorm. The Faith-Based Dorm was a new concept inside the prison system to bring together men of all faiths to build up moral values which has been proven to reduce a person's relapse into criminal behavior after release. In January 2013, the Faith-Based Dorm shifted from Overcomers to Celebrate Recovery as a substance abuse program and that is when KairosMan became an independent discipleship training course for the Faith-Based Dorm inmates. I have been blessed with the opportunity to teach five (5) full twenty-five week courses prior to my retirement. Over these twelve years in Hutchins, I have been blessed with the opportunity to instruct thousands of inmates in God's Word. Thank you for your interest.
