And He said to them, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your
heart, and with all soul, and with all your mind.'  "This is the great and foremost commandment.  "The second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

Now He said to them, "These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fullfilled." Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, ....
 Luke 24:44-45 NASB

In Acts 2:42, we are given what I like to refer to as the trinity of man verse.

Man is made in the image of God (Spirit not flesh).

Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

Acts 2:42
They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer

The trinity of man includes 1) the apostles' teaching, 2) fellowship and breaking of bread and 3) prayer.

This is what a Christian's life is suppose to look like; a man seeking God's face in His Word, a man seeking to feel and express God's love to and from other believers, and a  man who submits to God's authority by bending his knee in prayer.

Think about the trinity of man as Word, Love, and Spirit.
1) Word made flesh - Jesus,
2) Love in fellowship with other believers, and
3) prayer where the Spirit of God communicates with my spirit based upon my relationship with Jesus.

1)  Word:  I had a fellow in class try to answer a question from another inmate by referencing the book of Enoch.  I stopped him dead in his tracks and told him that we will not raise up any book to the same level of God-given scripture.  He tried to argue with me that the early Christians referenced this book, but I told him and the class that we must respect scripture as above the realm of mankind.

The book of Enoch might be a good read and the book of Maccabees might be good history , but they will not be recognized as scripture.  His response was that the Catholic Church recognizes the Maccabees.  My response; if the Jewish peopl do not recognize the Jewish Maccabees' story as scripture, who are these Gentiles to call it holy?  These men also raise up their own writings on the same level of scripture, so I do not consider their authority and we will not reference non scriptural books in class for answers to theological questions.

2)  Love:  For me personally, this one is the tough one.  I love God's Word.  I pray all the time, but prayer took time for me to submit to God's authority in all areas of my life.  God is holy.  Man is not.  That is why this part of fellowship with other believers can be difficult.  I use this anology; I will hold God's hand in one hand and your hand of fellowship with the other.  I will not let loose of God's, but I will let go of yours if you force me to choose between you and God.

In prison ministry, I walk like a soldier on point ready for battle.  Going into the prison to get my class started, I approach the guards as either for me, against me or not part of the process.  When I teach a prison class, I must deal with gentleness to one man who is earnestly seeking the face of God and with harshness for another man who is trying to lead men into error based upon his religion.  The main requirement to join the Faith Based Dorm is just to profess Jesus.  With that said, we get men from all religious backgrounds which leads to interesting discussions.

3)  Prayer:  So, how do we pray?  Let a real master show you how to go to God in prayer.
Turn your bibles to . . .

Daniel 9:1-23
1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of Median descent, who was made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans--
2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, observed in the books the number of the years which was revealed as the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.
3 So I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes.
4 I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed and said, "Alas, O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments,
5 we have sinned, committed iniquity, acted wickedly and rebelled, even turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances.

6 "Moreover, we have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our princes, our fathers and all the people of the land.
7 "Righteousness belongs to You, O Lord, but to us open shame, as it is this day--to the men of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, those who are nearby and those who are far away in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of their unfaithful deeds which they have committed against You.
8 "Open shame belongs to us, O Lord, to our kings, our princes and our fathers, because we have sinned against You.

9 "To the Lord our God belong compassion and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against Him;
10 nor have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in His teachings which He set before us through His servants the prophets.
11 "Indeed all Israel has transgressed Your law and turned aside, not obeying Your voice; so the curse has been poured out on us, along with the oath which is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, for we have sinned against Him
12 "Thus He has confirmed His words which He had spoken against us and against our rulers who ruled us, to bring on us great calamity; for under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what was done to Jerusalem.

13 "As it is written in the law of Moses, all this calamity has come on us; yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our iniquity and giving attention to Your truth.
14 "Therefore the LORD has kept the calamity in store and brought it on us; for the LORD our God is righteous with respect to all His deeds which He has done, but we have not obeyed His voice.
15 "And now, O Lord our God, who have brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and have made a name for Yourself, as it is this day--we have sinned, we have been wicked.
16 "O Lord, in accordance with all Your righteous acts, let now Your anger and Your wrath turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people have become a reproach to all those around us.

17 "So now, our God, listen to the prayer of Your servant and to his supplications, and for Your sake, O Lord, let Your face shine on Your desolate sanctuary
18 "O my God, incline Your ear and hear! Open Your eyes and see our desolations and the city which is called by Your name; for we are not presenting our supplications before You on account of any merits of our own, but on account of Your great compassion
19 "O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and take action! For Your own sake, O my God, do not delay, because Your city and Your people are called by Your name."

20 Now while I was speaking and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God in behalf of the holy mountain of my God,
21 while I was still speaking in prayer, then the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision previously, came to me in my extreme weariness about the time of the evening offering.
22 He gave me instruction and talked with me and said, "O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you insight with understanding.
23 "At the beginning of your supplications the command was issued, and I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed; so give heed to the message and gain understanding of the vision.

I love Daniel. Daniel is highly esteemed by God.  Wow.

First, notice that Daniel was reading Jeremiah and references the law of Moses.  Daniel confesses to God what God already knows, but showing God that Daniel knows who he is with and who he is without God.  Daniel knows that he is not in good standing with his Creator although the bible never shows a bad point about Daniel.

Daniel is highly esteemed by God.  Do you think you are a good and righteous man?  My righteousness comes only from Jesus as my Savior.  Think about this; Lucifer had his name changed to Satan.  Lucifer means 'morning star', but Satan means 'accuser' because he wanted to be like the Most High and fell from grace.  Take a lesson from Daniel and get off your holy seat.  On this planet, we are all just fallen creatures made in God's image trying to find our way back to the only Holy and Righteous Living God.  Notice how Daniel appeals to God's glory.  If you are in a ministry, always ask yourself 'is it for the glory of God or for your glory?'.

I will never forget an advertisement I saw for an Easter service a few years back.  A new mega church placed a huge banner on the side of their building so all the traffic from the highway could see when Easter services would be held.  They had placed a three story picture of their pastor on the banner.  Now, who is being glorified?

Daniel had perspective about who he was with and without God.  Daniel wanted God to be glorified.  I do not think that Daniel would have placed his picture on an Easter banner.  We need to understand that mankind is born in the dark.  Man is a natural sinner under the domain of Satan from his birth as Jesus referenced in Acts 26:18.  Jeremiah tells us that the heart of man is wicked beyond understanding in 17:9.  Do you understand that you are born under the control of Satan and that you are born in darkness to God?  Some people in church do not like that statement, but that's what Jesus says.
Open your bibles to . . .

Acts 26:15-18
15 And I said, 'Who are You, Lord?' And the Lord said, 'I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.
16 But get up and stand on your feet; for this purpose I have appeared to you, to appoint you a minister and a witness not only to the things which you have seen, but also to the things in which I will appear to you;
17 rescuing you from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,
18 to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.'

Jesus said man must turn from darkness and from the dominion of Satan.  So, where does Jesus say man starts out in this world?  That's right, in darkness and under Satan's domain.  You must believe what God told us about the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden to see how all the pieces fit together.  See what Paul says about this in 1 Corinthians 15:45-49.  Man is not holy and man is not righteous due to the disobedience inside man from the conception inside the womb.  Mankind is born with a disease called sin.  Holiness and righteousness are required to go before God.  Jesus is the righteousness and holiness of a Christian.  Without Jesus, how can man approach God?  Submit to God and receive His gift.  Jesus was born of the flesh, but not born in the sin of mankind.  The seed of man brings forth a sinner.  That is why the Holy Spirit overshadowed the virgin when Jesus entered into humanity.  Jesus was without sin, but He bore all sin of man.

What about a little baby?  When is a person responsible before God?  This argument will ruffle a few feathers.  Ask David.  David is described as a prophet.  David is said to have a heart after God.  David is described as a man of grace inside a system of law.  What did David say about his son born to Bathesheba who God took?
Open your bibles to . . .

2 Samuel 12:23
But now he has died; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me."

David said I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.  Were will David go?  I think it is safe to say that David will be in heaven.  David says his little baby went to heaven.  Read all of chapter 12 to get the complete story, but David caused the death of this child with his sin.  Does your Christian religion teach that child baptism is required for salvation?  You need to take a very hard look at this verse.  Baptism does not save.  The old testament is very clear that God established the age of twenty as the age of accountability, but be careful putting limits on God.  Remember that all souls are the Lord's.  For examples of the 20 year old issue, see Exodus 30:12-15 (14), Numbers 1:2-3, Numbers 14; 29-30.

How does this relate to the trinity of man?  These are the exact same type of topics that must be addressed during our fellowship.  We find the answers to these type of questions in the Word.  It takes the Holy Spirit to open our minds to comprehend God's plan as we seek God's face in prayer.  We pray to the Father by the blood of Jesus and ask for the Holy Spirit to guide us.

Does your religion tell you to pray to this saint or to a virgin woman?  Where is that in scripture?  I had a guy in class ask me if I talk to my grandmother when I visit her grave site.  No, I do not talk to my grandmother at her grave.  My grandmother is holding the hand of Jesus in heaven and it would be silly to try and talk to her at a grave.  She is not there.  This guy loved to pray to dead people because that was his religion.  I pray to the Living God by the blood of my Living Savior Jesus and ask for the Living Holy Spirit to guide me.  That is solid theology.

Notice the 'may' receive forgiveness from Acts 26:18.  Christians can agreed and disagree on a ton of issues and predestination is one that is always in discussion.  Some people hold that each individual Christian is selected from before birth to be saved.  I do not hold to this for several reasons, but the main objection is that this pre-selected group is not consistent with the whole bible.  I believe that God has a select group that each person who comes to Him 'may' receive His forgiveness.  This is not a question of if, but it will be provided.

Scripture does tell us that God calls certain individuals for specific purposes, but that does not apply across the board.  God established the nation of Israel, but just because you were born with Jewish blood does not give you the right to be a child of God.  Jesus made that very clear when He talked to the Scribes and Pharisees.  Jesus established the Kingdom.  Just because you are religious does not mean you are an adopted child of the Living God.  The Pharisees were extremely religious and Jesus said their father was Satan.

Where is your heart?  Just because a tree is planted in an orange grove does not mean that it is an orange tree.  What fruit does it bear?  That will tell me what kind of tree it is.  Do you love the Lord your God? What kind of fruit is on your tree?  Jesus is the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father, but through Jesus.  See John 14:6.  Just because you are a member of a religious group does not give you the right to be a child of God.  Where is your heart?  God decides who is His based upon your relationship with Him.

Personal note; when I am buried, I want Psalm 31:5 on my grave stone.  Remember, Jesus says this on the cross except for the ransomed part.  I need the ransom part, but Jesus does not because He is my ransom.

Psalm 31:5
Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have ransomed me, O LORD, God of truth.

Trinity of man; Word, Love, and Spirit.
1) Word made flesh - Jesus,
2) Love in fellowship with other believers, and
3) prayer where the Spirit of God communicates with my spirit.
